Deashe Inwood

Deashe is a multimedia artist currently based in Birmingham, England.  Her work explores the themes of spirituality and rituals, queerness, and othering. They use their experience of existing as a queer person in different countries and cultures to inform their practice. Careful consideration is given to the materials used in her practice as their properties and connotations convey meaning. The processes used in the creation of their artwork is also deliberate as the making of objects has the ability to make intangible aspects of lived experience tangible. Her current work focusses on how ritual can be used to provide survival and healing within spaces built to exile ‘the other’, as well as to create separate survival and healing spaces between othered identities.
