"A study in belonging is a Mid Century Modern architectural installation that incorporates live video processing and performance and explores a poetic connection between site and body."

Tamara is a London-based Saudi-Palestinian artist who works mostly with performance, video, and architectural installation. Her work explores the displacement of people and how the relationships between identity, home, trauma, and memory can be affected by both global and personal displacement.

I am interested in Tamara's work as she deals with the personal and community fractures that can occur and how that relates to ecologies and the body. In particular her work with memory and belonging in order to heal those fractures is what interests me about her work, as well as her architectural work that almost seems to make material and try to pin down the fractures in identity and performance of that identity.

This is important in order to understand my work as Tamara explores with her work the way that these fractures create pockets of space that can then be filled by those looking for community. This community that's created becomes an amalgamation of everyone in it and all of their experiences, leading to a shared sense of movement through the world.
